The dedicated and generous Friends of the Slinger Library, Inc (FOSL) group was formed in 1986 with the original group members performing "work days", processing books and getting them ready to be put on the shelves for patrons to enjoy.
Since their formation, the FOSL have fundraised and donated over $200,000 to the library for programs, library collections, and furniture.
In the early years they fundraised through book sales and bake sales. In 2000 the first annual Silent Auction was held during the Summer Learning Program. The last Silent Auction held in 2021 raised over $5,000. The annual Casino Night fundraiser started in 2011 and proved to be a great success! In 2019 the last Casino Night fundraiser raised $5,800.
Other fundraisers that continue today are the collection of aluminum cans, bake sales, and the ongoing book sale.
